One important point to remember is that the ideas covered in lecture this week are more about critical design, which is intended to reveal issues and assumptions underlying our use of electronic objects, not so much for the design of actual systems. So you probably don't want to directly apply these ideas to your iBamboo - although the ideas you mention above sound quite interesting, particularly in terms of control and the experience from the user's point of view.

Hi gals...

its quite some time i wrote here already.. regarding Izwah's idea, I think it is

quite a good one. But the strip thing... can clothes be hung on them? What if the

strips roll up when there is a temp change, then the clothes will be rolled up also??

Haha.. its quite hilarious to see the clothes being rolled up into a mess.. if this

idea is being refined further i think it will be even better.. Go gals!! :)

Very interesting idea. As mentioned in tutorial, I think some of the issues to think about would be how much trouble people are willing to go to when they hang the clothes, esp. if it involves sorting them into categories. Also, how much awareness they'd want when for example the clothes are dry. You can also think about different target groups, such as housewives, maids, etc.

its US to the rescue!

Hi guys..
Hmm i asked some of my frens and i found out they don really shop in groups becuz it is difficult to meet everyone’s needs. Most of the time when they r in groups is just a way to kill time and spend time fellowshipping together. Vey often when they shop in groups they end up not buying anything at all!! becuz they have to wait for one another, eg. when someone goes toilet, eat etc. But also they hardly shop alone too as they find it boring. Most of the time they shop in pairs or in threes who r their very good frens who won mind waiting for u to try on a dress, take your time to choose etc. Haha..

But if they alr have something in mind to buy, they don mind shopping alone to get it as it won waste time. Most of them usually engage more in window shopping just to relax a little on weekends. But they also said thet find it wierd chatting with strangers.. mayb they won even bother to reply! But they think that the info on sales, availability of items in shops, price comparisons etc r rather useful. cuz some of them may be v busy and have to do last min shopping and sometimes they find it a hassle to walk all ard the shopping mall just to find the item in mind.

N also, regarding the costs of this device to shoppers.. hmm… probably can implement in some way that if they want a certain svc, they can download it at a cost for a day… so that their shopping experience will be enhanced. Especially those busy working women who hardly have time to shop or those who do last minute shopping etc can download the info about which shops have the items they want, which shops r having discounts and sales etc. so for eg, if they don want to chat with pple as they find it awkward they have a choice not to download or log in into msn.
Abt this idea that this device defeats the pleasure of shopping… I think that its up to the shoppers’ choice afterall. They can receive all the info abt where to get the item they want etc, but they can also choose to ignore them and continue enjoying their window shopping. Thie device is just a way to help them make correct choices, so they won regret after buying an item that they found out later which costs much lesser in another store, or its just a device that provide them with info abt discounts and sales and which shops sells the item they want.
ok thats for all…bye!

halo..juz thinking bt wat cheryl said...i think like we all discussed...i mean the system is juz der to help lah...so given the influx of info...i mean its our choice whether to really use it or not...like its somthing we can do without...but helpful at times...so maybe we shouldnt think so much whether the system will not be of much use...theres always a time wer we will need it...like for those window shopping days..we can juz choose not to use the system! so i guess we should juz think abt the advantages..cuz its our choice...something tat enhances our life..haha..
